The Baker Brothers...
GRANDMASTER PRESTON BAKER began his study of Karate in September of 1965 under the instruction of MASTER JAMES A. JONES who was the student of John Keehan A.K.A. "Count Dante," who was the student of Robert Trias, the founder of the Shorei Goju-Ryu style of Martial Arts. After studying and training hard for three years, he was promoted to Shodan, First Degree Black Belt. Shortly after receiving his Black Belt, he began teaching at Sears Y.M.C.A. on the west side of Chicago. He taught there for seven years and produced some of the top students in the midwest, such as his brothers, OTIS BAKER, EDDIE BAKER, JOEL B. WORK, BRAD HUGHES, HERMAN ROBERTS, MO SHIN-NER, KENNETH PATTON and many others.

EARLY 1974, Master Preston and his brothers, Otis and Eddie, opened up their own Commercial Karate School, called, BAKER'S DOJO OF KARATE & BODYBUILDING, which is now the oldest Black Commercial Karate School in Chicago. The Name of the Dojo was formerly changed to BAKER'S DOJO OF KARATE, EDUCA TION & SCIENCE in 2007. Master Preston Baker was the winner of over 500 awards in competition during his years of amateur and professional fighting. He and his brothers have taught over 20,000 students and have promoted over 200 students to Black Belt, ranging from 8th to 1st Dan. Grand Master Preston Baker has been training and teaching for forty-one and a half years and is still very active in his School and on the World Martial Arts Circuit.

THE BAKER'S DOJO FAMILY TREE & LINEAGE is quite extensive and consists of some of the biggest names in Martial Arts.
